Coylematic is making more rhythm in the City

By: Mfundo Mpathani

A Willowvale born hip hop artist by the name of Lwandiso “Coylematic” Fuzile is making more rhythm with his music in the City of Jozi. Coylematic is a self-made hustler who takes every opportunity that comes his way in the big city of Johannesburg and turning it into gold with a rhythmic sound of hip hop. Coyle made his mark in the music industry with his hit song “If I die” and still continue with his hustle. Mbhashe Online talked to Coylematic about his new opportunity with one of the leading soapies on tv, Rhythm City. We ask him few questions about the opportunity he got from Rhythm City recently.

Lwandiso “Coylematic” Fuzile

Mbhashe Online: Coyle, briefly tell us about the agreement you signed recently with Rhythm City.

Coylematic: Like everyone I emailed my two tracks, “Dintja Tsa Teng” and Don’t Judge Me” to the Music Supervisor of Rhythm City which is Mpumi Phillips. Last week Thursday I received an email from her saying Rhythm City would love to use my song “Don’t Judge Me”

Mbhashe Online: Wena as an artist ukufumana ithuba lokuba kudlalwe umculo wakho on a national TV kukuthatha kukubekephi as an artist?

Coylematic: It’s a big achievement as an artist, honestly. That clearly means you’re progressing, you’re growing as an artist and says a lot about your music quality.

Mbhashe Online: Udibene njani nabakwa Rhythm City?

Coylematic: I used to do extras (background acting) for Skeem Saam at Sasani Studios (where they shoot): Skeem Saam, Scandal and Rhythm City. Out of curiosity as an artist I bumped to Ntombi who works for Rhythm City and we had a conversation about submitting songs for Rhythm City soundtracks, then she introduced me to Mpumie (Rhythm City Music Supervisor).

Mbhashe Online: Usasebenza njenge artist ezimeleyo okanye ikhona indawo eku sayinileyo ophantsi kwayo ngoku?

Coylematic: I am still pushing myself, getting deals without any help, am not under any label.

Mbhashe Online: Salute….One last question Coyle. When can we expect to hear the song on Rhythm City?

Coylematic:  We can expect to hear the song from 07 – 18 October 2019.

Up Close and Personal with Mpho Music

Compiled by: Fundiswa Mhlekude

By: Mfundo Mpathani

Gatyana – There is a new kid on the block and he is taking the music industry by storm. This artist hails all the way from the Eastern Cape. He has travelled a long way in pursuing his career as a singer. Let’s welcome our artist of the day ……Mpho Music………!!!!!!

Q: Mpho, we know that you are from the Eastern Cape, please tell us where exactly in the Eastern Cape.

A: I was born and bred in the small village of Mevana outside Willowvale. I am the second of four children. Growing up, I stayed with my grandfather and my step grandmother while my mother was away for work in Cape Town. I would only see my mother during holidays. My grandfather was a very strict man. I did my lower grades at Mevana JSS in Willowvale before I went to Desmond Mpilo Tutu High in Paarl in the Western Cape where I got my Matric certificate in 2015. I then enrolled at Boston City College in 2016 but unfortunately I had to drop out due to financial constraints.

Q: When did you realize that you have love for music?

A: In primary school I used to sing the first soprano in the choral music. I never missed even one single session of rehearsal. Music was the only thing that made me happy. Also at home, my grandfather loved singing and had composed his own songs which he used to sing during sad moments. I would sing along and sometimes he would ask me to lead him in certain songs.

Q: When was your dream of becoming a musician fulfilled?

A: In 2012 I became a backing vocalist of Bunono and Anathi Mxokwana whom I met in a Career Exhibition at Badi SSS in my home village of Mevana. I was singing there. They loved me and they asked me to work with them.

Q: Who is your role model in the music industry?

A: Ringo Madlingozi. I love him because he sings from the heart. Every song he sings leaves a mark in people’s hearts. That is why he is loved by many in SA and abroad. He’s just a star and knows what he’s doing.

Q: Who would you like to collaborate with or feature in your songs in future?

A: It’s obvious! The legend himself; tata Ringo Madlingozi. I would really love to have a collaboration with him one day.

Q: Most musicians who sing at a young age usually turn to drugs and then end up going astray, thus losing focus as well as giving up on their career, how do you aim to ensure longevity in terms of your career in the music industry?

A: Music to me is a calling, something that I was born to do. With the kind of background that I’ve got and how I was raised, God is always the weapon as well as the Light that shines in everything that I do. I put God first and that gives me the assurance that I will stand the test of time.

Q: Have you encountered any challenges on your journey towards pursuing your dream as a singer? What are those challenges and how did you overcome them?

A: One of my biggest challenges was being a country boy, and of course accompanied by the fact that I was raised by grandparents who did not understand anything about my calling and love for music. Their only focus was sending me to school and see me getting a qualification. Not that I blame them for that because I too, believe in education. It wasn’t easy at all. There was lack of support from my surroundings. So, meeting Bunono made me grow a lot musically.

Q: Do you play any musical instrument? Which one?

A: Nope, I don’t. However, I aspire to be a guitar player. I am currently attending lessons at Shofar Church. What makes the whole situation enjoyable is that I also own a guitar which I use to practice a lot.

Q: To make sure that other aspiring musicians do not go through what you went through while pursuing your music career, what advice would you give them?

A: My advice to other would-be musicians is to persevere and never lose hope. I am a co-founder of an organization called JMP Foundation, which is an arts oganization based in Franschoek. We collect children aged between 9 and 25 years off the streets and give them something to do by offering them platforms to showcase their talents. I believe in the development and empowerment of our young talent.

THE END!!!!!

Khumbula kwiveki ephelileyo ebesithi “Bafundise ngemali” kwiveki engaphambili ebesithi “Otata abancinci” ngoku uthi “Ilifa labantwana” Ilifa umntwana anokuthi nokuba sele ebethekile ebomini aphinde umntwana akhumbule ukuba abazali bam babendinike ilifa.
